Coding Horror: Which Online Discussion Archetype Are You? (http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/2005/11/which-online-discussion-archetype-are-you.html)

I'm sure we can identify a few archetypes around here.... ;)

There are some fuller descriptions of the various types here (http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/index.htm).

I have no idea what others perceive me as ... I think I'm always reasonable, but maybe I'm Jekyl and Hyde (http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/jekylhyde.htm).

Mleh, you might be more of a Godfather (http://redwing.hutman.net/%7Emreed/warriorshtm/godfather.htm) ;)

(And as an aside, I hope that people do see that I started this thread in good fun, and that I hope we can poke a little harmless fun at each other.)

I think that bracketed comment outs you as an Eagle Scout (http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/eaglescout.htm).

Hmm. I see myself in a number of those caricatures. I was very amused by the notion of:

Picador (http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/picador.htm)

Meh, there are too many types to read through - and what's worse is that I have to actually CLICK each one to read it. Not nice, not acceptable to me - just feels like click-bait. If they had had the whole thing in one page to read through I might have had the patience to do so, but I a not clicking each and every ****ing link just to see whether I fit, and then click "Back" again to get to the list. Very user-unfriendly and site-owner-ad-clicking-page-counter-upticking-friendly page design.

Cheers

Just glad to see the word 'archetype' used instead of 'icon'. People say 'icon' when they mean archetype.

The original link (http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/2005/11/which-online-discussion-archetype-are-you.html) posted by Sonal has all on one page. Yes, you do have to click on each link to read the full description, but if they were all on one page you'd complain (http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/nitpick.htm) that you have to scroll too much.

Also, once you are reading a description there is a 'next' on that page, so you don't have to go back to the main listing, and also a full list available as a drop down menu.

Just glad to see the word 'archetype' used instead of 'icon'. People say 'icon' when they mean archetype.

Grammarian (http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/grammarian.htm), anyone?

I defer to other ehmacians. If I fit into one category I'd have a hard time picking it out of the list. Some are quite funny.

MF: Picadors are subtle... Just sayin'. ;)

Heheheh, probably true :)

Everything Else is the 'non-technical' forum of the technical site, so I think you've actually nailed it.

Hah - I think I have most of them read now - all worth it. I see many popular ehMacians among the warriors described....and myself (Oh gawd) in a few as well. (perhaps Yuk Yuk is the closest?) Edit: Ok - with a bit of Enfant Provocateur, Coffee Klatch, and Loopy thrown in for good measure.

I laughed out loud at Perv and Palooka... and chuckled at most of the rest.

Where's Neutral Nellie?
Or TMI Tony?

Another add: Psycho Sally?

Thanks Sonal - great find.
