I think my (out of warranty) iPad 1 has gone the way of the Dodo and I should probably just be happy for an excuse to upgrade but it'd be nice if there was an easy fix so I could pass it along to someone else to enjoy!
Last night I went to go take it off the charger after it was plugged in all day and noticed the battery was at 14% and wasn't charging. Plugged it back in, wouldn't charge (no "Not Charging" warning either - just nothing). Plugged in my iPhone very briefly to the iPad charger - iPhone charged fine so it's not the cable or the charger. Tried plugging the iPad in to the Mac - didn't make any sync noise or give the usual Not Charging indicator.
Seems like a dead dock connector? I turned off the iPad and then plugged it into the wall charger and it fired up like it normally would but still wouldn't charge. I turned it off while still plugged in to the charger and went to bed. Woke up this morning, turned on the iPad and found it has a full charge.
I've looked around a little and found this has happened to others but never did find a solution outside of taking it in for repair/replacement. Anybody else had this happen to them? Seems so strange it just happened out of the blue like that. I'm quite capable of taking apart iDevices so if someone knows specifically what part it is, I'm definitely up for trying to replace it.
Thanks!
