: iPhone 3GS Issues
Chimpur Apr 17th, 2012, 05:40 PM My 3GS is acting up again. heres a list of things its doing. The phone is using the later iOS 5.1; its about 3 moths short of being 2 years old.
When I goto load a page in Safari; it will often hang and be really slow oading the page. Really slow. I have good cell reception in and arund my home. Also when at home I'm often on wi'fi… which again is fast.
like in a preous post; the battery dies very quickly. Less than a day sometimes. Just from a bit of txting/iMessage and light use.
Occasionally when I goto place acall; nopthing happens beyiond the normal "Calling…" screen. No dailtone, no dialing noises, no ringing etc etc
Do you think theres anything I could do to fix this? Is it worth taking it to the Apple Store and let them have a look at it?
Tech Elementz Apr 17th, 2012, 08:52 PM Perhaps a good restore doesn't hurt? If you have tried that, then there must be something up with it... Have you tried some battery tips online to see if those could help with your battery issue? Perhaps Resetting Network Settings Could Help With The Safari & Calling Issues...
ChilBear Apr 17th, 2012, 09:46 PM Similar issues here with my GS - October would be 3 years. I had battery changed about 3 weeks ago. Still no more than 24 hours before the phone went to zero battery. I restored and now onto 3 days with battery charge, noting I turned off most of the "auto" stuff to cut down the drain.

Yeah I tried that. But part of what I was thinking to be honest; was what can Apple actually do? I mean The seem to be replacing some peoples iPhone 4's with 4S's.... I mean that'd be awesome.. but either way. Do they have 3GS's still in stock?
Joker Eh Apr 18th, 2012, 07:21 AM Turn off Javascript for Safari. For some reason many people are having issues of late of slow loading web pages.
For the battery you could have that replaced at many places for alot cheaper than Apple.
dona83 Apr 18th, 2012, 01:21 PM Are you running iOS 5? Turn location based reminders off.

where is that exactly that you are referring too? is it the location services itself? or location services, system services something in there?
Fedricwalls May 5th, 2012, 02:06 AM Great discussion about iPhone 3Gs issue, I'm also facing some problem with my iPhone. I just buy iphone 3Gs with having 32gb last week. Had it for two days and it blank out. I cannot even make it on. No response when I plug in charger, internal device or USB. This phone is not worth it to get or use. Noe I'm thinks that I must return this phone.
Chimpur May 5th, 2012, 02:23 AM Just an update. It seems to have not gotten markedly better. Still sup par battery life. Though I think it maybe iCloud/cloud related. I had the phone on airplane mode on the subway (subways with no wifi or cellular access seem to kill the battery as the poor phone searches like crazy for non-existent reception).
Maybe my phone tries to fetch data too often. I think i'll try that next. Though I thought 15 min intervals is what I've always had it set for since MobileMe when I first got that in the Summer of 2010. Oh and I didn't think mobile based reminders would matter as I rarely leave location services on if I'm not actively using it.
cantwait May 6th, 2012, 10:22 AM my 3GS got way better battery life after update to 5.1 .. push email on, location services off (only when needed on), spotlight search off, did complete wipe of phone, setup as new. should have done it long time ago!
Chimpur May 6th, 2012, 07:11 PM Turned off a bunch of notifications and Spotlight Search. Lets see the change now.
