Can the expensivest MBP with maxed ram be a decent gaming machine? Would it run the new Diablows and Starcrafts?

easiest answer is to go to the webpages of those games and read the system requirements, focusing on "recommended" rather than "minimum"

then compare to the specs published on the apple website for the MBP, and voila....your answer

To be honest my bottom end 15" MBP with a few upgrades seems to be a pretty good desktop replacement. I use it mostly hooked up on my desk. I use my modest little PB on the couch.

If gaming is that important to you I have to question why you're on the Mac platform at all, quite frankly ...

For PRODUCTIVE things, the MBP (or even the now discontinued MacBook) were/are perfectly acceptable desktop replacements.

Maybe gaming is secondary to his needs and the games are already ported to OS X so much the better.

PRODUCTIVE things -- like thread crapping?

I like the OS and the games I mostly want to play are on mac already (blizzard games). And MBPs can boot into windows, I've heard.

Incidentally, if I bootcamp it, would a new MBP run Oblivion and Skyrim?

Which Windows would you run. Most software has higher requirements when running Vista or Win 7 as opposed to Xp.
