So the long gun registry is basically done. In a completely predictable move, Quebec has obtained an injunction until sometime in June.
One can also predict that they will waste as much time and money as possible in typical Quebec fashion.
But never mind Quebec, what do you guys thing about the long gun registry? Great idea or waste of time?

Frigging waste of time and money.
Now a registration for small pistols and the like,
for sure, and if a crime is committed using one, lock the
owner in jail or have him/her executed.
Live by the gun, die by the gun.

Goodbye and good riddance. Next on the list, the ridiculous ATT requirements for restricted firearms.

One thing that has annoyed me is the insistence that cool looking rifles be classified as restricted. Solely based on appearance...
Ar15s are cheap, accurate well built and easy and fun to shoot. Why are they restricted? Because they look like military guns.
What if the registration process were easier? Would people care then?
What id the reason people oppose the gun registry?

Long gun registry? Good riddance to a colossal waste of time and money.
Some laws on the books are there due to the ignorance and fear of misguided do-gooders who lobby government with their misinformed message. Toss in the fear factor by police that what looks like an automatic assault rifle will be treated like one and the consequences deadly. Look-alikes, even in small calibre that are not fully automatic, are banned for that reason. How many people carrying look-alike hand guns that are pellet pistols or water guns have been shot dead? People with no experience or training in gun safety, wielding a fake weapon usually pay for their ignorance with their lives.

Same with other rifles prohibited by name, like the M82A1 and all variants. Sure, it's a big ass rifle...but plenty of other .50 BMGs are available.
