That's right, Chimpur - iPhoto is now (for me at least) updating via the Mac App Store.
I've noticed that the MAS has become less responsive in the last few months - I used to be able to simply launch it and the Updates tab at the top would indicate the number of apps waiting to be downloaded. Now I have to click on Updates to force it to refresh.
For the time being that sucks that I have 2 App updating hubs.... This will apparently be fixed in Mountain Lion with Software Update though. I suppose change can be upsetting to say the least

Don, are you also using the MAS?
No Mark, I am not. Didn't even know it was possible. How does one activate it?

Hm. Well... it's the same issue that affected many clients of software developers who moved their stuff into the MAS: If you don't already own 9.x, you need to buy it (if the MAS doesn't automatically recognize your existing install of iPhoto).
