MBA update - Q1 2012?

Anybody have any insight on exactly when this expected refresh might happen?

Is it likely to be a footnote to the iPad 3 announcement (March 7), a quiet rollout before or after, or an event all its own?

Or is there no update coming just yet?

Thanks. I don't mean to be dense, I just don't follow this stuff as closely as I used to: you're sure this was the main thing coming in the previously rumoured update? Or is it possible there'll still be an announcement in the next few weeks?

I plan to buy refurb one way or the other, just figuring the deals will get better right after an announcement...

The waiting game is horrible because there is always new stuff coming. If your buying demo then just buy it.
There is never a good time to buy, you just have to pull the trigger and say to yourself, I did it and paid what I thought to myself was fair..

Recently I bought a couple of Xserves from a repo company in the US, after dwelling - I pulled the trigger and said to myself it is what it is.
At the end of the day, I need the units and will use them happily in my rack!

Thanks.

I'm in the crucial indecision phase. What to sell, what to keep, what to buy, whether to wait.

I could wait if need be, especially if there's a 15-inch Air coming as rumoured, but June/July is a little too far away.

So it looks like I'll just go ahead and pull the trigger on an MBA or MBP very soon.

I think the rumor your hearing is the MBP ditching the disc drive, therefore looking more like an air. When that happens the only real difference will be processing power.

I will be waiting for what comes out as well. The only time I have used the drive in mine was when I purchased Aperture from Apple prior to it appearing in the Mac App Store. So it will be interesting to see what comes down the pipeline.

Yeah, Apple needs the new Ivy Bridge chips before it's gonna be able to release any updates to the MacBook line. And with intel seemingly delaying those till June, that's probably when we're looking at the updates to the Pro/Air.

The iMac might sneak out an update in April/May, but so far it looks like Spring 2012 will be all about iPad 3 and AppleTV 1080p:

Well... I've already pulled the trigger. I just hate lingering in indecision for any length of time.

Still not sold on the MBA as a primary machine (screen is a tad too small for my purposes), trying to avoid Lion for a while longer, not needing the latest and greatest, and having the right RAM on hand to max out the mid-2010 MBP, I went ahead and ordered a refurb 15" MBP with hi-res anti-glare screen.

Right. Hadn't noticed that they haven't been updated since before Lion was released.

Anyway, this machine hits a couple of sweet spots for me -- relatively low price for a 15" MBP w/ the monitor upgrade, RAM upgrade already bought and paid for, etc.
