Apple Airport Updates available

Airport Utility 6.0 is now available for download. It requires Mac OS X 10.7.2. The user interface has been redesigned to look more like the iOS Airport Utility application available through the App Store for the iPhone and iPad. It is also streamlined, with fewer windows required to access the full range of Airport Base Station settings.

Also available is the 7.6 firmware update for both AirPort Base Station and Time Capsule, and can be installed via Airport Utility on the Mac or iOS.
This update is for all 802.11n AirPort Express, 802.11n AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule models. It fixes an issue with wireless performance and provides support for remote access to an AirPort disk or a Time Capsule hard drive with an iCloud account.

It seems that a few other 6.0 and 7.6.1 versions were released as well.

I'd let Software Update decide for what's in use and connected.

Now, what the ....

I just got interrupted while typing this with an alert that there was an Airport Software Update to install, and that just occurred less that 30 minutes after just having run my 10.6.8 Software Update check that said I was up to date.

Well that was bizarre.

Being a good Mac citizen, I clicked the Update and it did it "install" I guess, and I did a restart just to make sure, and I'm still left with the AirPort Utility 5.5.3 version.

I'm running SL 10.6.8. Strange happenings.

Or was it just "firmware" update and nothing to do directly with the AirPort Utility versions per se??

That screenshot is updating the firmware on the unit, not your software.

broad's right. Can't configure the older versions now with 6.0. What other way is there to configure the older generations? I've got my Windows computer I suppose.

For those of you who are wondering about configuring the older gens, just install the newly released version of 5.6 which will reside right next to 6.0. You can read some about it here:

I installed 6.0 , But I'll be using 5.6 and just leaving 6.0 in my utilities folder untouched
until I upgrade my old Airport hardware that I'm still using with OSX 10.7.2.
I've also removed 6.0 from the dock and replaced it with 5.6
