In Windows I would right click a file and using "send to" I could send it to a thumb drive or desktop or whatever I added to the send to feature. I know I can drag and drop in osx but sometimes there are too many files open and rather than minimize I would right click and use send to or something similar. Just trying to learn as much about osx as I can.
The trouble is, with right click on the file and copy, it does not give one a list of where to copy to, unless you open "finder" or a folder. In the Win, "send to" gives you a list of where to send it.
I know this is OSX and not Win, just wondering if there is a similar equivalent.
Paddy, thanks for posting that link - I had that installed at one time, I think, but it disappeared over a couple of OS updates for some reason.
However... if you go to the Developer's site, and then follow the link for Snow Leopard users, the developer has a little rant posted about how OS X 10.6 doesn't support Contextual Menu items. I haven't the time to look at this closely, but it seems odd to me, since I have loads of CM options (with the stuff that in the past would have been mixed in the root CM, now under a "Services" item in the pop-up menu).

Thanks,
You just copy (it puts them on the clipboard) then you navigate (using finder) to where you want them to go, then right click and paste.
You can set this up with Automator. Create a new workflow that looks like the attached image (except with the desired folder in the To: field). Save it as a workflow in the folder Library->Workflows (on Leopard - I believe it is something like Library->Services on Snow Leopard). For me (Leopard User), I can now right click on a file, go to More->Automator->Move To Miscellaneous (Move To Miscellaneous is what I named my workflow).
Again, things might be a little different in Snow Leopard, but you should be able to get this to work.
