Anyone with experience with Firewire to SCSI adaptor?

I'm looking for any help I can get in finding a means of connecting my Old Agfa Arcus II scanner to my old G4 MDD. The scanner still works just fine and I used to run it off a PowerMac 8500 (built-in Scsi port), but the Adaptec card in my G4 no longer functions since moving up to OSX.

I could just buy a new scanner, but the Arcus has a nice large transparency scan (21cm x 27cm). Most of the new scanners only handle 35mm or film strips, & I often need to scan 4" x 5" negs. Besides I prefer firewire over USB which is fairly standard on most of the reasonably priced units these days.

I recently read about an adaptor "FR1SX - Ratoc Firewire to SCSI Converter" which may solve the problem, however all the comments/reviews (mostly favourable) are a few years old. So I'm hoping to find some-one who has/does use this converter under Leopard or Snow Leopard

All comments & suggestions welcome

Tried several adapters to use Agfa SCSI scanners, none worked for me. The solution I have most often heard is people keep an old PowerMac G3 or a G4 with SCSI card around to use as a dedicated scanning station.

@ CanadaRAM

Thanks for the reply

I suspect you're right, sounded too easy to me, just buy an adaptor and plug it in.

Yes, I may have to dig out my old 8500 and see if I can get it back up and running.
It was very durable but extremely slow, but then again it's faster than having nothing at all

Thanks again

I have a BNIB PCI SCSI card I picked up at MWSF 2001. You'd be interested?
