I get my daily dose of Dilbert humor via RSS feed. Between Christmas and New Year, they made changes to their website, and for several days I got an apology and promise to be back soon. Then the site appeared to be back up but displaying the strip for Dec 29.
I've been in correspondence with the website folks who assure me that everything is ok on their end. Then miraculously, the correct day will appear.
Could be a cache problem, but clearing the cache doesn't fix the problem.
To make it more interesting, I have tried with three different browsers on my netbook and get Dec 29 and can't get today. Then just when I'm about to give up, one of those browsers will show the current day but others don't. Same thing on my PowerBook.
I clear cache on each browser and relaunch them with no joy. I also restarted computers, and the modem.
I called my ISP and they also had the problem. I took my computers to an office downstairs that is served by a different ISP and got the current date.
To make this all more interesting, I can sometimes get the correct date and sometimes not. And I downloaded the Opera Mini browser to my iPad and it has consistently showed the correct date while other browsers on my iPad and on the two other computers do not.
It's not a big deal if I don't get to see Dilbert, but I'm very curious about this problem.
I've had this problem with a few RSS feeds that stubbornly refuse to update. I can't remember which one it was, but I finally got so tired of trying to get it to update that I just gave up and removed it from my news page!! I don't know what the answer is - I've tried the same sorts of things you did. Also deleted and then added back the feed - to no avail, which was weird - you'd THINK the most recent stuff would show up when you add an RSS feed. There has to be some sort of caching going on somewhere, but not sure where...I use my.yahoo to create my customized RSS start page.

It isn't just the RSS feed though, I can't get the current strip on three devices and several browsers on each device, but one browser always shows the right strip, while the other browsers take turns showing the right strip and then noy working again.
So you're saying that you went directly to the site as well and got the wrong strip? If that's the case, that IS weird and I don't know what would cause that short of a local cache (which you dumped)...
I did add it to my Yahoo page to see what happened - it does show today's strip fine. Or I should say, it shows a little piece of today's strip - you still have to go to the dilbert site to see the actual strip, which sort of defeats the purpose of having a strip on a page in the first place IMHO, but I guess they want to drive traffic to their site, not make life easier!

Yes, when I go directly to the site, I also get the wrong date, with a total of 9 different browsers on three different operating systems. But one browser gives the right date.
And even stranger, the help desk at my ISP is also seeing the wrong date! But they helpfully assured me that it was something in my computer because that's how the Internet works. when I asked him why I could march my computer to a different part of the building so I could pick up a signal from a different ISP the page changes instantly to the current date without me lifting a finger, he didn't have an answer.
The aggravating thing to me as a former programmer is that this is not likely the only problem at my ISP and they aren't taking it seriously.
I was hoping someone here knew about networking and could tell me where this mysterious cache is.
Hello, I can access the link you gave. I performed the two steps but unfortunately without any visible effect. I'll provide the link to my ISP and hope they'll do something. Later this day I'll be able to try again with another ISP. I'll keep you informed.
