Brand new iMac - dual display issues?

I've looked around but didn't see anyone address this issue.

I just bought a iMac last week - nice machine. Bought the little adapter to plug into my Acer X223W monitor (VGA cable). And nothing happens. I've tried turning the acer on and off. Plug the connector into the iMac repeatedly. Any ideas? The system profile says nothing is plugged in....

Any help is appreciated!!!!

Steve

Hi Steve

If your Acer has DVI and VGA inputs then you may need to manually switch between the 2 inputs. Check for a button on the front of the monitor that will allow you to switch from the DVI to VGA.

Thanks Kami,

Unless the monitor detects a monitor, it won't let me in the menu. I had this issue with my macbook pro when I had it hooked up.

Hmmm... do I go and buy the DVI adapter?

I'd try the DVI - VGA looks like garbage most of the time.

Will do... I'll pick one up tomorrow and see if that solves this "pain in the behind".
