Personal domain email with mobileMe ?

Is it possible to host personal domain email with mobile me? MM hosts websites, so I am assuming it does email as well.

It was included in the last round of MM updates in early June.

"The new Mail, based on Mail Beta, supports server-side filtering rules, one-click archiving, widescreen and compact views, rich-formatting toolbar, and increased security with SSL. It also comes with two new features added since beta. The first is support for external email addresses so you can receive email from other services and send replies from those addresses."

Right, so it will fetch email from another domain, and let you send emails from that domain from within me.com. It won't function as a mail server for your personal domain.

Not even close. If you want to use your personal domain with MobileMe, you'll still need to find a host to do the actual hosting and receiving of the email.

Apples and oranges.

I guess I'll just use google apps for domain. I must admit that it is a bit of PO considering MM costs money.

I had kind of already answered this question using google, but I just figured I must be reading wrong, or outdated information, as I was blown away that it could not, when gmail can.

I was totally going to buy MM, but this is a major setback. The main reason I signed up for MM, was the push mail, and I can't even use that with my iPhone, as it drains batter about 4x faster than when I have it set to poll for mail. Everything else I can get from google for free, and iDisk can be replaced by drop-box.

I do really like the MM interface though... and it's not blocked at work like gmail

I have to take issue with this:

Dropbox: 2GB
MM iDisk: 20GB

Cost to upgrade DropBox to anything beyond 2GB: half the cost of MM.

So yeah, Dropbox can be a replacement for iDisk if you barely use iDisk at all, otherwise it's not really as good a deal as people make out.
