Macbook Pro with external monitor

Hi,

I have been scouring the interwebs looking for some info. on how well the 13.3 Macbook Pro performs mirrored on an external monitor. I am interested in upgrading my Macbook (2007) to the newer graphics in the MBP and was wondering if the difference is that profound.

My Macbook leaves a lot to be desired on my current monitor (Acer 243W) and I was wondering if the MBP graphics are good enough that I can drop the PC and just go with docking the MBP when I need a desk setup.

Experience from anyone who's done it would be great. Also anyone who can compare the MBP and Macbook on an external monitor.

Thanks

Not sure I totally understand your question.

But first, you cannot upgrade the graphics on any MB or MBP. So I suspect you're saying upgrading your computer.

Second if the colors does not match your expectation, it is a calibration problem. Nothing to do with the graphic card.

No, I am aware that it's not upgradable. My question was around the improvement in the MBP versus the older model when it comes to mirroring on a setup 1900 X 1200 or thereabouts.

The issue is not so much colour, but clarity, pixelation, etc. I don't really know anyone who used the mirroring of the older Intel graphics on a 1900 X 1200 setup with much success as it seemed to be pushing the limits of the display.

If you want to prevent pixelisation on an LCD, use the native max display size. Any other format is going to look bad. The problem is not the video card it is the hardware.
