Any Mac Mini Users?

Hi everyone! I was thinking of getting my first Mac soon and wondered if anyone of you had Mac Mini's, I wanted to know how are they? Apple doesn't really seem to care about the Mac Mini much for some reason. When I go to my local Apple Store or Futureshop they always have other Mac's on display but never the Mac Mini so to be honest I have never actually seen a Mac mini in my life. I wanted to know how is it working for others and would you reccommend it?

Thanks in advance!

i have 2. they are fun and more than powerful enough now for day to day tasks and some mild photoshopping etc.

no one is going to build their hollywood video editing suite around a mini, but for email/web/itunes/pics (the stuff most of us do) they are more than capable.

Out of curiosity - Broad- do you know what the specs of your Mini are? Cause that would give me a great idea for which model of the Mini I might get.

Thanks in advance

they are both last generation minis, so are a little slower than the current ones but still with the Nvidia graphics chip (which is a deal breaker).

one is a 2.0Ghz/2GB/160gb that i use as a media machine connected to my home theatre, the other is a 2.0Ghz/4GB/250GB 7200RPM drive that i use here at the office. they are both great for what i need them for and i have never regretted purchasing either of them

Get more RAM Mine is current mini (base model + 320GB hard drive)...it wasn't pretty trying to multitask any serious programs with only 2 gigs of RAM. Now I have 4 and it's smooth sailing.

I'm using an ancient Mac Mini right now, 1.42 GHz PPC p[rocessor with only 512 MB of RAM and it works fine for everything I throw at it.
Biggest problem is that it's not internally expandable - you have to replace RAM or hard drive, can't add.
Right now I have one external FW hard drive connected for back up and a USB hub (which you probably no longer need with the new ones.
Not sure how old this one is, quite a few years. I wouldn't hesitate buying another one.
Right now it's driving a 19-inch LCD but I also had a large screen TV connected and that worked fine.

I think the PPC ones were released in 2005. Good to see even the oldest model can do today's tasks!

Yes - I remember opting for the faster processor but sticking with the standard RAM of 512 MB.
The idea was to upgrade the RAM myself later except later never came so it's still the original RAM in there.
At this point I don't think there is much point spending the money on the RAM. 1 GB is all it can take. Around $40.- seems to be the going price for a reasonably good 1 GB stick of RAM

Not sure I understand the phrase "deal breaker" does this mean you must have the Nvidia chip set or it should have another ?
