HP ran an innovative computer recycling program this past summer in conjunction with Best Buy (may be incorrect about their partner) but do we see people here celebrating that? Noo....
Some companies have different priorities and different responses. They can't all do the right thing all the time.
Yeah...I know, it was just that I came across it, and it was nice to see....kinda restored my faith in "corporate america" y'know? I wasn't aware of the HP recycling program.
Within the past hour or so, the UK and the Irish Apple sites have adopted the same front page as the US one. Maybe the process will continue on Apple sites around the globe.
This is a hellish event, and all of the usual advertisements for our luxury consumer items, in the press, on TV and the web, do seem incongruous and rather secondary just now.
Well done, Apple.

I think the difference between 9/11 and the Asian Earthquake/Tsunami is that 9/11 was politically motivated, whereas, like Rex Murphy said in his Point of View last night, the quake/tsunami was a natural disaster, and completely devoid of any political implications.
The HP programme was admirable. It would be nice to see more of the same. there are lots of recycling programmes out there, but a company like HP has the reach to pull it together in a big way.
