My firs visit to the Apple store. Nice and big, lots of service but I was surprise that there isn't a dress code of some sorts. One of the geniuses I think he was (had a blue shirt on) didn't have a belt on his jeans so they were drooping, almost like my wanna-be-a-rap-star teenager. Didn't look too neat. .
I personally don't care about dress code in most places; if I receive good service, you can wear whatever you like. It's the people who wear fancy clothes but honestly can't help me with anything I need that bug me more than anything.

How true!

I think in the long run it's good to have some standards so that the manager and employees have an idea of what's what..It can degenerate to a point where it gets ridiculous otherwise.
We in the "west" are very non-conformist but generally, folks in Africa and Asia do their best to look well dressed and have a good appearance thus they are often shocked by our "standards".
I'm still struggling to get my kids to understand the importance of this. Also just as important is table manners. I didn't grow up with any strict rules whatsoever but then found it was a big disadvantage when I traveled around Europe and Africa and being invited as a guest in homes of people I met. I soon learned from the reprimands or pointers I was given, often not very discretely
.
I worked in one Ontario casino some years ago where a gorgeous young woman was the manager of her department. She had terrible table manners and slouching posture. To this day I regret not mentioning it to her. If her superiors were from outside Canada they probably would not want to promote her any further simply because of this and probably show her little respect..

Perhaps a Mac is the wrong computer for you, professor...
