Send a message via AIM to chas_m
Assuming it is satisfactory from a cosmetic point of view, and still eligible for AppleCare (which I'd strongly recommend), I'd say it's a good deal indeed.

Yeah a definitely below market .
Solid machines upgradeable to 8 gigs RAM and 500 7200 rpm drives.

Actually looking at that it looks like a 1st Gen unibody entry level as it has 1066 RAM..should not have dual level video card tho

Will have the cardbus but most likely glossy screen.
Got a model number???

Sounds like a late 2008 unibody given the dual video card. They also have 1066 ram and glossy screen :/

It is from a photography store. No model # from the ad. Glossy screen...hmmm. I as hoping to use it for working on photos. I'm starting to get into photography.

To tell you the truth, my Rev. A MacBook Air has been great for photography. It does slow down a bit when I'm running both Photoshop and Lightroom, but if it can run them well, this Pro should have no problems at all.

Don't need a model number. As a 2.4Ghz unibody MacBook Pro, that makes it an MB470LL/A. RAM cap is 6GB, not 8GB, and it does come with both the 9400M and the 9600M. As a stock machine, it should have 256MB of dedicated vram for the 9600M, not 512MB. I've forgotten if that upgrade was available as a custom order though.

It does have an Express/34 slot, as well as a glossy screen. Matte screen was only available on the 17" model when those were released. The antiglare option was added to the 15" models in August.

A word of warning... a scammer has been spamming Ottawa (and possibly others) CraigsList for months now, selling a similar/same machine for $1200... I contacted him initially - the usual BS - "I'm out of town right now, pay me via Western Union blah blah blah"... Total scam.

Make sure to only deal in person is my advice for this...

It isn't Craigslist. Like I said earlier it is a store. I've decided to wait on it and buy a lense instead. Our macbook will work for now. Maybe I'll buy an iMac later in the year. If anyone is interested I noticed they have a few different macs on sale. Check it out
