Does anyone know where I can pick some up (not order online) in GTA, Southwestern Ontario, Michigan or Northeastern Ohio? I am down in Windsor right now with this printer and it is starting to run low, but will be up in Toronto next week. Ideally though I could get it in the next few days.
Aside from online dealers Apple told me to go to Montreal to pick it up, and the one place I found here in Windsor said 3-5 business days and "sorry he couldn't help me if I needed it in a rush" as he was about to hang up on me.

All those old Apple printers were reworked versions of something else, so toners aren't hard to find. You just need to talk to a printer tech who knows his or her stuff.

I have lots of old toner for my old Laserwriter IIg and 4/600 ps.
Yes the toner drums may develop problems after expiry date even if in their original sealed bag.
One of the problems I have seen with this old toner is that you will get an unwanted horizontal line about a third of the page down.
I have had two different manifestations of this problem.
1 ) the unwanted horizontal line goes away on the second or third page and thereafter that you print on a particular day. ie. the first page or two of the day you print has the unwanted line and then it goes away until next time you start up the printer.
2) the unwanted horizontal line is there for the first hundred or so pages printed and then goes away for good ie until the toner runs out.
