Question about the Snow Leopard cd

So i have a intel based macbook, had it for a while, and am still running tiger. Ive read about using the SL cd to do an upgrade from tiger to SL (although it violates the licensing agreement). My sister just got a new macbook pro, and in the box there is the SL install cd and iLife.

My question is, how many times can you use the SL install cd? If i try it out on my tiger mac, will she be able to use it down the road if she needs it?

thanks for any help

It doesn't count installs & yes, it will install. Not sure about upgrade of Tiger but it will do a full Erase/Install if you first erase the HD.

You can go straight to Snow Leopard from Tiger using a $35 SL disc. That disc that came with her MBP might be an upgrade disc that requires 10.5; if it is, you can't use it. If it's a regular SL, you can use it. That said, just pop the disc in and try. No harm done. An Erase and Install as Carter is pointing out is not necessary -- it will straight upgrade, even from Tiger.

If it is the disc (it's a DVD not a CD) that came with the MBP it will only work for the MBP.

Pay the $35... get the SL disc!

Geez, how much cheaper does Apple have to make it for people to do the right thing??

+1 G-Mo -- if you want it for yourself, buy a copy for yourself.

The thing that had me all messes up when SL was realesed was that I was waiting for a "Full" insgtall disc & not the upgrade then realized the so called "upgrade" is a full install as well.
