I sold off my G4 tower, 17" monitor, computer desk, keyboard, mouse, peripherals and am now left with:

- my new iBook
- wireless Airport Extreme base station
- USB PSC 750 HP printer
- external 120 gig HD for Garageband and video work
- Logitech 2.1 speakers hooked up to the Airport Base station
- my couch.

I am sitting here in utter silence (no fan whirring et al) writing this and doing my report cards. This is wonderful.

Yep, it's a dirty job iLabmAn, but someone has to do it!

Enjoy!

Cheers

That avatar IS cool, but now it needs either your iBook or the new G5 iMac.

Adding 512 to an iBook makes it rock! I went from my G3 500 256 Mb to my G4 1Ghz 640 and WOW!! No complaints at all.

That said, it is used for photos, docs and surfing. Not heavy audio or video.

The moment that sold me for life with my iBook: Sitting on the front step with the wife and pup enjoying the summer weather whilst typing an ehMac post and running an iPhoto slideshow of the photos we've taken over the last year or so...

Trés cool.

The cool thing was as the sun set the glowing Apple logo on the cover began to get passing neighbors' interest piqued.

You can't buy brand awarness like that... er, or you can I suppose. Bah, you know what I mean.

*SIGH*
I sold my 15" 1Ghz for the speed of the G5, I have been very mcuh regreating it. Especially since i upgraded the ram on my wifes g3 and realized just how much differance more ram makes. I would have been fine with my laptop with just more ram!
oh well, I guess I will wait for them to figure out a G5 laptop now...

iBrodie. A friend of mine recently bought an iBook and with the stock RAM, he almost took it back. He went to Memory Express on Macleod (Calgary) and picked up a 512mb stick. Current prices:

Micron Original 512MB PC2100 DDR for NoteBook - $144.95
Micron Original 256MB PC2100 DDR for Notebook - $74.95

Cheers.
