This is something, after years of neglect, RIM is coming out with software to sync you blackberry to your Mac. Looks like they borrowed allot from itunes, but at least it a step forward.
Maybe there is hope for them after all. I am under the impression there is a new phone on the way.
I dunno. Apple just removed the Palm Pre's ability to sync with iTunes as though it were pretending to be an iPod. How is this different?
As long as they're doing it the Apple-approved way, by parsing the iTunes library XML file, there isn't an issue. Palm cheated by making the Pre mimic an iPod instead of writing their own sync software.

To the best of my knowledge, Apple does not have a problem with other products syncing with the Mac. What they do have a problem with is other companies using unapproved ways of "fooling" the Mac into thinking the device is an iPod (or some such).
As planders notes, parsing the XML file is the right way to do this, and assures that changes in iTunes won't "break" the compatibility. That's precisely why Apple wrote the file in XML in the first place (rather than some proprietary format), so that other apps could access that info.
This may be a bit off topic but rather than a Blackberry I'd rather have an iPhone. Any chance that Bell will be carrying them? I hate to wait a year before my contract runs out.

Once Bell/Telus switch to HPSA GSM, and once Apple's contract with Rogers expires, sure. Unless things have changed, Bell/Telus should be able to provide GSM in 2010 sometime.
Edit : woops, GMS should have been GSM.
