Powermac G5 Dual 2.0ghz Price Check

Hey guys I'm looking at getting a Powermac G5 as a desktop computer but I'm having trouble getting a reasonable idea of what these towers are worth. Mac2Sell seems to be estimating a price that is...well...a bit too low. Mac2Sell is showing $320 for a 2.0ghz Dual G5 with dvd burner, and ebay is all over the place. The one Powermac G5 Dual 2.0ghz I've found has an asking price of $820....

Anybody had any dealings with similar towers and have an idea at their real market value?

Apple made at least 3 versions of the PowerMac G5 2.0Ghz dual single core processor. And there is one PM G5 2.0Ghz single dual core processor that people confuse with the dual processor version.

eBay tend to have better "price discovery". Search using "completed listing". That will give you a fair idea what the going price is.

Craigslist and Kijiji is the ultimate wild west. Prices there fluctuate wildly because listers have unrealistic expectations. Also, listers tend to "include" software in their pricing.

Be warned: I've encountered many listers that play word games with their listing and subsequent emails to you. eg. a 100% functional computer may not mean what you think it means. Be very careful.

They are really in freefall given our stock not happy.

We're doing a 2.5 with a 20" Dell for $990 that is popular.

There are a number of 2.0s - - hard to tell the differences at a glance.

I'd agree with Lara. Craigslist and Kijiji can be really hit and miss.

I picked up a 'cheap' Mac from someone last month and it looked ok. Was running but when I took it apart it was a mess inside as someone had swapped around parts from two or three versions of this Mac.....grrrrr

Granted I found a nice AIO at a reasonable price and in great shape so it depends. Just take the time to look carefully at what you are buying.
