G5 or Mini

If you had your choice what machine would you rather have, a G5 dually or a intel mini?

Assuming it would be a machine for just everyday home use,

I would go with a G5 dual (as long as it is not water cooled). As it has more expansion for the future. Although be warned, the G5 will most likely not be able to Run Snow Leopard.

Best regards,

I would have to vote for the mini aswell. The new ones look pretty nice, but there seem to be some good deals on the last gen aswell.

+1; agreed. Don't buy an outdated, unsupported PPC-based Mac, especially one that may not even support Snow Leopard and a a platform many developers are already dropping support for.

Here is a good deal (I think).

Refurbished Mac mini 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - Apple Store (Canada)

Out of stock.

And I wouldn't get a previous-generation Mac mini. A new one isn't expensive, has faster RAM, bus, and substantially better video (and will last longer in terms of usefulness).

even though I have a dually g5 as part of my office, i would get the mini - smaller desk footprint, probably quieter (not that the G5 is very loud), plus it's easier moving forward into the future if apple builds some kick butt features into SLeo.
