I did laugh at the bottom someone asked :

Cool. I used to use one of those at work in the 80s. I think we paid $10k for it. Does that sound right?

Yep, $10k was the retail list price when they first came out. Amazing how far we've come since then, I do love how on Lisa vs Macintosh they went from "Waste Basket" to "Trash"

It looks like it is in excellent condition. There was a guy who bought a new in box Apple IIc about a year ago. I think it cost him about $5,000. This might even go higher.

Well for collectible reasons. Why would someone collect Nascar stuff, or Baseball cards, I can see a picture of MJs Rookie year card signed, but that and owning one is totally different. This isn't even as simple as that its a peice of computer history, any museum or collector, or mac fan would love such an item, or at least ones that can afford it.

The only reason one would buy a machine like this is, like the above post says, for collectable or historical reasons. The Lisa was Apple's first attempt to replicate the work done by Xerox Parc in the 70's with the Alto, the machine which inspired it. Luckily for all of us they went on to build the Mac.

Frankly, though, you'd *really* have to want it to pay the price they're asking and the enormous shipping cost they allude to.

Exactly! Of course for what it is I think its a fair price, anything under $3500 and its a steal, shipping at $87 isn't bad since he/she said they'd protect the box, and that box looks huge and shipping a 90lbs box anywhere will cost a lot I looked at UPS and it says here in the US to my location with the size and weight would put it at $72, not including insurance and extra packing.

Maybe you had to have been there to understand this kind of thing. I think some of us have a deep sense of nostalgia for those early machines and the new world they were opening up.

By the way, here are unboxing photos of that IIc.
