Especially as Apple has traditionally owned the graphics market and that 20" iMac display just won't cut it for anyone with any serious interest in Photography or Video.

BTW the vertical view axis is a lot weaker than the 160° claimed by Apple. 20-30° would be much closer to the truth.

One other thought: Like most of us I am assuming that the new display has not changed. This is based entirely on the fact that Apple mentions no changes in the one area they were badly needed.

For me the new top end MiniMac is looking very appealing. Especially true as I find the new KeyBoards rank right up there with the hockey puck mouse for bad design. So couple the Mini with a good 20" display and a good keyboard one should get off at a just barely affordable price and also be able to keep the physical footprint within reason.

I had the same dilemma you did not long ago. In the end, I went for the 24" iMac and so far, no regrets. I love how big the 24" is and the quality is outstanding.

We're really happy with the MacMini -

We're pairing it up with a NEC 2090uxi which is 1600x1200 for less than the iMac price...a shape I prefer for working for less than the 20" iMac - more work space ( 95% of a 24" 16:9) and a real monitor....12 bit.

We see this as an ideal workstation for graphics and serious amateur photo bugs.
Finally we get a reasonable headless Mac to config

Now the keyboard??... W T F were they thinking.....

Sounds interesting.

As for the KB my theory is that they turned over the design to the hockey puck genius. The hope being that he would screw up so badly, that the touch screen computers currently being planned, will actually seem to be an improvement.
