Combo drive in a G3
Any idea if a combo drive out of a G4 will work in a G3 desktop running 8.6?

It ought to
check out xlr8yourmac.com for cd/dvd updates. You may need to download PatchBurn, should the drive not be recognized right off the bat. Shoot, you could probably throw a working PC dvd drive in there and it might be good
