Hey all,

I absolutely love this thing to death however I have realized it might no longer need a portable but rather a desktop at home.. and those new iMacs are tempting

I was curious to know what my machine might be worth..

Specs:
1.25Ghz G4 Proc
2x256 stock ram.. BUT i also have 2x512 Sticks for a full 1Gb that ive been using rather than than the stock 2x256.
80Gb HardDrive
64 Meg ATI 9600 mobility
AirPort Express Card
Bluetooth
SuperDrive
Backlit Keyboard

All original Box and CDs are inlcuded (OSX 10.3)

Its in excellent condition! The only "damage" is a 2-3 very very very very tiny scratches on the bottom which are barely noticable. I only noticed them since Im one of those paranoid Laptop babying freaks

Is also doesn't suffer from the defective battery issue or white spot issue. Theres also some original Apple Care remaining untill 01/02/05.. im not sure if Apple lists it Month/Day/Year or Day/Month/Year.. but thats when it says its still available until. I MIGHT also be able to use my student discount to get it applecare extension.. but thats a maybe.

Anyways I was wondering what it might be worth now-a-days so let me know what prices you guys think it might be worth. Weather its with the 1Gb, Stock Ram, AppleCare, etc..

Mmm.. iMac...

Read the rules of the trading post:

5. "Price Checks" or "Interest Checks" - Should be posted in the Anything Mac forum, not the Trading Post. If you're not sure what you're item is worth, post what you think it's worth and add O.B.O. (Or best offer) If you get no bids, you're asking too much.

Acting like this just push down the threads of people who actualy want to sell something. And best place for a price check is to go on eBay. Within a few days you should see something similar to your product for sale.

Sorry, but eBay is hardly a realistic approach to assessing the Powerbook's value. Everything Mac sells for much more than they're worth on eBay.

Hey Mantat,
sorry about that and if someone wants to move this over then im all for it. Just find a mod that can do it for me and I would gladly co-operate.

Ive seen a number of price checks pass through this section lately, one example: http://www.ehmac.ca/ubb/ultimatebb.p...c;f=9;t=007638

And nobody jumped all over them, and I did go over the rules must have just missed it. Sorry

Anyways if someone could move this to general discussion I would be greatful.

Kloan: Why dont you just buy macs from ebay and then sell them on this forum? you would be rich in no time if you are right...

But your arent. eBay use the free market theory as much as its possible and the price of an item is generaly what is actually worth.

Price of an item isnt determined by the seller. Its the buyer who pay what they think it worth. For an item to reach its full / real value, you need:
- no outside constrain
- enough potential buyers
- perfect information

these are the basic law of the free efficient market in economy and I can tell you that eBay has them all.

Or how about we stop crapping in this thread and try and keep this on topic? If I was looking to eBay this would be up there right now.

I don't find eBay to be a good tool at determining prices, quite frankly I find its always inflated. Now I could sell over there sure and make a tad more, but thats more of a hassle to me, here I can maybe get someone local. They can check out the machine, etc

Besides theres always eBays fees and stuff.. anyways lets just sit tight until this gets moved or what-not. I don't want to interfer with the buy & sell anymore than I already have.

That doesn't make any sense. If I bought from ebay and sold on here I'd be broke. [As Red Forman always says] _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Sorry Akai.. I'll stop posting in your thread now, since I don't really know the value of your Powerbook.. if I had to guess I'd say somewhere around $2400.
