Transmission

I'm having real trouble getting this to work.

I downloaded a torrent tracker, or whatever they're called, from torrentz.com. But when I drag it to the program, it always says theres an error and downloads ziltch.

What's going on?

Need more info. Version of Transmission? Latest version is not yet acceptable to some tracker sites.

How do you know the torrent is healhy and has seeders?

I'm having real trouble getting this to work.

Ok so you downloaded Transmission.
Then you mounted it (by selecting the .dmg file you downloaded).
It opened, and you dragged the icon to the applications folder, installing it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, now you go to a torrent site.
You download the torrent file.
Wherever you put it, you select it, and it should either:
1) be associated with Transmission, opening Transmission, and starting to download to the location you specified, or
2) your Mac will ask you what application you wish to associate with the file you selected (the torrent file) choose Transmission, and Transmission will open, and download to the desired location.
But when I drag it to the program, it always says theres an error and downloads ziltch.
As far as I know there is no "dragging to the program", I suppose you could open it (Transmission), and drag it (the torrent file) there, but that would certainly be the long way around.
Assuming Transmission itself is working (ie application can launch), and that you downloaded a .torrent file... Maybe the torrent itself is broken. Try another one? Without seeing what the error is, we can't give much more than suggestions based on guesswork
Well, all he asked was what is a tracker and if it was similar to a site. I just replied to his answer, in a simple form.
Try another file and see if it downloads. I recently upgraded to 1.40 but it was so new that some of the sites refused to acknowledge it. Had to use an older version in the meantime.
I'm using 1.4 and its working perfectly for me. As was stated assuming its installed properly clicking a torrent file should prompt you to add it to Transmission automatically at least it does for me.
