buying 2nd hand eMac - can I find install discs if needed?

I am planning to buy an emac for $150 which seems like a steal (sell2mac.net rates it at $230 for 80 gig hd, 700 mhz, 384 mb), without the installation discs.
I hesitate, but feel like taking the risk for this price. If I needed the install discs, where might they be found?

The eMac is currently running 10.4...I assume my powerbook g4 discs wouldn't help matters.

Please respond asap if you have an opinion!

What did you want to install from the install discs? I bet some kind soul on ehMac would give you (or sell cheaply) a Tiger (10.4) install disc, as most people have upgraded to Leopard by now... What else would you need? The iLife that would be on those discs would be iLife 4 or so - the 700Mhz is a first Gen eMac.

Also note the 700Mhz eMac doesn't have USB 2.0 - just USB 1.1

If you can confirm that the raster shift issue is not a problem then this is indeed a good buy.

That said I would only buy a first gen eMac if I could see it running for at least an hour.

why for an hour? what happens after that time...
the seller says the machine is in great condition and has no hardware issues that he's aware of. I don't think he's putting me on - I can always go take a look and if it's a lemon, just leave!

This is the context: my mother's on a purple imac, running 10.1.5, chugging along slowly, browser too old to manage a lot of newer content (e.g. hotmail) and she can't afford a whole new system at the moment - I figure dropping max $200 on a functional emac has got to be better than her current set up!
and it has a superdrive!

Thanks for the info on the screen issue, I'll keep my eyes peeled.

I would just want it in case I ever needed to start up from the disc for whatever reason.. I do have my powerbook 10.4 discs but I didn't think I could use them to install tiger on another machine, since PB came with tiger installed.. Can I?
I think I tried this with a friend's 2005 ibook and it didn't recognize the discs.

Thanks, good to know.. I don't expect that would be a problem for now. the old imac to be replaced is connected to its own keyboard, which connects to a non-apple usb mouse and printer without problems. i hope all 3 things would easily mesh with the emac...
