FYI: The default (in the box) config of the MacBook Pro has the Nvidia G-Force 9400M chipset enabled. To switch to the more powerful 9600M GT with 512 MB of memory go to the systems preferences panel, select energy saver and click on Higher Performance under the Graphics section at the top of the panel. You need to log out (not reboot) and log back in for the change to take effect. It's possible on the fly switching will be coded in a future update or Snow Leopard (maybe with the possibility of ultra-high performance through an SLI mode).
