Back in the design-light mix of things, I love guides/litt to read to refer back to.

To all purveyors of fine design:

I'm looking for suggestions as I want to buy some guides to work Illustrator. Never realized how great of a app it is... I was (once upon a time) fairly proficient in CoReL DRAW! (pls, do not laugh - I'm from Ottawa. Go Sens!), and Illustrator reminds me much of it.

Anyhow, looking for book suggestiions. I used to mess with Quick Start guides, but I want to go big! Something that will cover everything. including printing (as much as possible).

Thanks!

H!

Also.. Illustrator should come with a "help" section.. and some sample files for you to pick apart. It's essentialy the same as version 7. Few new things... but no major shift.

nice....

I've not dipped into the bookstore yet, but will very soon. my 1st job might be to design a screen for a tee that I'm trying to produce for next week. That should be a no brainer.

But as mentioned before, I know that Ai is pretty powerful and full of features that go unnoticed/unutilized. Thought that a book wood point out some of the secrets. + I love to read books.... sometimes, looking @ stuff online all the times drives me bananas - I know, sounds odd.... But when there's a book avail, I like to have it and read it away for the computer as well, kinda old school a bit.

Any other tips?!?!

If this looks familiar - you'll be just fine.

PS. They added all the photoshop filters to Illustrator. You can apply them to vectors. Strange and "wrong", but true.

Plus you can control transparency of Ai objects.
