iMac keeps ejecting installation CDs

I bought a refurb 24 inches iMac this week from the Apple store and everything seems to be working fine except it keeps ejecting installation CDs! It did that for the installation CD of my HP printer and it's now doing the same thing for the installations CDs for the wireless mouse/keyboard. I tried putting a movie in it and it worked but for some reason, I can't get it to read any install cds... Is there trouble in paradise?

I just put in a blank dvd and it did recognize it. It just won't read any installation CDs. What the heck. I'm leaving the country tomorrow for two weeks so I don't have much time to deal with this

What about audio cd's? There could be an issue with the cd portion of your SuperDrive. They are separate lenses. If it is an issue, you can likely return it for a replacement from where you purchased it.

Original cds. I haven't tried any audio cds yet though.

Sounds like the drive is defective, since it's a refurb it should still have some form of warranty on it so instead of messing with it I'd call Apple and have them repair it.

Could also be something as simple as a dirty lens on the drive but if you have warranty you should take advantage of it.

Call Apple if you purchased it at the refurb store, and get the unit replaced. Or, any Apple Store or AASP for repair purposes.

Thanks for the replies. I'm currently in Italy so I can't really call Apple but when I get back home, I won't be able to send back the iMac for repair since I really need it for school/work and there are no Apple stores nearby I can go to for a quick fix. What are the odds they'll send a technician to fix it at home or that they'll send me a new iMac and I can just return the broken one? Ciao!
