Download Folder in Dock ?

Hi Everyone...

Running OS X10.5.4... (Leopard)

I want to delete certain files (downloads) from the download folder located on the right side of my dock.

I have been told to take the item directly to the trash but that is not working. another annoying thing about this particular folder is that once you click on an item, the folders disappears back into the dock and you then have to open it again. Real pain in the posterior..
Any input appreciated as always.

Rob

Click on 'Open on Finder', and delete from there?

You can click-and-drag items from the downloads folder pop-up - just click and hold, don't click and let go.

Also - when dragging it from the Downloads folder pop-up into the trash, I've found it works best when dragging out toward the desktop first, so that the pop-up collapses back into the dock, and then continue on to the trash can.
