I had a chance to see a live "Phil-Note" a few years back at DV Expo in LA when he introduced FCP 3 and DVD Studio Pro 1.5, it was pretty painful.
Don't get me wrong, I love the mullet and the beer gut, but this joker just doesn't have the same stage presence as Steve. Mind you I don't expect Steve to do a keynote while recovering.
It'll feel kinda odd to not see his Steveness up there -- and even wierder to think that he'll be watching the stream just like us normal folk (hopefully he'll be home by then).
Just how muh do ya think they're BUSTING THIER ASSES down in Cupertino these days?? Macworld coming... [i]G4 iMac needs to be completed[/b]... Jobs away (surely in touch) but expecting perfection -- as seen through HIS eyes. Man, I bet they're running around like crazy, nervous as hell

With Avie and Schiller (probably bitterly) at his side, my money's on this guy.
Anybody else short of Ghandi would prove a disaster.

BTW, here is Tim Cook; the man holding the reigns during Jobs' recovery:

Umm Pancreatic tumour. That's nasty. 5 year survival is close to nothing if it is cancerous. I hope that Jobs makes it but don't be surprised if he 'retires' in a couple of weeks.
[EDIT]: Things may be better after all... I'll keep my fingers crossed
Quote:
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP)—Steve Jobs, Apple Computer Inc.'s charismatic co-founder and chief executive, said Sunday he had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his pancreas.
In an e-mail message to employees, he said he will be off to recuperate during August and expects to return to work in September.
He identified his cancer as an islet cell neuroendocrine tumor, which he described as rare and said could be cured by surgical removal if diagnosed early. He said his was caught early.
A far more deadly—and common form—of pancreatic cancer is adenocariconoma, he said.
"I mention this because when one hears 'pancreatic cancer' (or Googles it), one immediately encounters this far more common and deadly form, which, thank God, is not what I had," he said in the message.
During Jobs' absence, Apple will be run by Timothy Cook, the company's executive vice president of worldwide sales and operations.
