MacBook Magsafe woes

After using my backup MacBook (bought used on here) rarely for the past 6 months or so, the magsafe connected decided to give up the ghost. Not want to pay the $60 (or whatever it is) for a whole new adapter, I went on eBay and found just the magsafe cable the goes from the computer to the transformer.

Upon emailing the seller for instructions, I was slightly offended getting the following reply:

"sorry you need to research from the web but for PRO just open the case and replace the cable"

Calling me a noob, bub? Won't be buying from you, that's for sure.

Anyway, how do I pull apart the transformer to install the new cable if I go that route? Has anyone done this and would recommend for/against?
