Hello there Mac gurus!

I need help... I bought a hand made external firewire drive from a certain dealer in the toronto area and it had a few problems... but now when I try to record audio to the drive as a capture drive... I get a "not a audio playback volume" error. Does anyone know what this is... or how to fix it?

Thanks for your help... in a bind here.

check the settings in your audio program to see if it is configured correctly to use that drive for both recording and playback. Also, do you have anything besides audio dumps on that drive that could be getting in the way?

Sorry ... I am running a powerbook G4 1.25 with a gig of ram blah blah with OS10.3 on it (reverted back to original 10.3 as I didn't like all the bugs in the updates.

I am running PRO TOOLS 6.x and I have my scratch disc allocations set to the firewire drive.

Any ideas now?

Try repairing the permissions on the drive. If that fails you might have to reformat it. That might be the problem to start with... How is it formatted?
