There's something in my Macbook..

Okay, I just bought a new 15" Macbook Pro 2.4 (Penryn)

When I pick it up (with the screen facing me) and tilt it back and front, side to side, there seems to be something inside that is moving. The sound is like a little rock or ball bearing sliding around like those little ball bearing maze puzzles.

Does anyone else experience this? Perhaps a part is broken or loose?

I know this may seem like an odd question, but does it go to sleep properly if you shut the lid?

The reason I ask is that the detector that tells the computer to sleep because you've shut the lid is a little sensor that could come loose and behave as you describe.

In any event, I would call Apple about it and see what they say.

There's nothing loose inside my MBP, I'd have Apple check it out.

I'd be concerned about any metal object shorting between two circuits. Take it in to an Apple certified tech and have it opened and cleaned under warranty.

Perhaps an e-mail message or audio file has fallen out of a small hole in your hard drive, and is loose within the case.

Ahhh that's not good.

So, any Authorized Service Provider can fix it for free under my warranty right?

The only thing I'm afraid of is them having to take it for a week or two because I can't go without a laptop.

What are the chances of me taking it to the Eaton Centre and them just exchanging me for a new one since I just received it last week? Or them giving me a replacement while it's under repair? Or them shipping it after repair because I'm in St. Catharines?

same thing happened to me with a MacBook that was a week old. No, they didn't replace it and yes, it took three days to get it back from service. But ... don't mess with it. I don't recall what had come loose on mine, but something had ... it has the potential for frying your logic board ...
