Slingbox/Airport Express Bridge/Sympatico 4200
Have just bought slingbox and spent 3hours on phone to Costa Rica to their helpdesk in order to configure.
I am using an airport express as a bridge as my ethernet cable from my sympatico speedstream 4200 (supplied by sympatico) is not near my tv. So, i've successfully extended my network as specified by slingbox's website.
I have 'found' the slingbox on the setup assistant software supplied by slingbox. however, i've not been able to register it remotely - i can change the channel on the macbook and watch it but only because it's on the same network. i have not been able to work out how to configure the 4200 to allow access remotely - in fact, i think i need to specify the ports on the router and the 4200 supplied by sympatico apparently (according to them) does not allow this - however, the siemens website for the 4200 specifies that it can. sympatico have stated that if i were to buy a separate unit from them, a router that allowed you to configure it, then it would work.
any ideas so that i don't have to call costa rica again? on the last page of the slingbox set up i've tried to manually configure by inserting the ip address which i've set up for the slingbox, but it doesn't work

Don't mean to be rude but it's really hard to understand what your trying to say.
My guess is that you need to forward the ports on your router. I think you'll find the port numbers in the manual or on the slingmedia site. The 4200 shouldn't need configuring.
I have the same problem right now. I reset my router and cannot connect to my slingbox beyond my home network. However, I am not using a bridge but since the slingbox is being detected I don't think thats the problem.
Advice: when asking for help in a text-based medium like a forum, make an extra effort to use standard English constructions like full sentences, paragraphs, punctuation and so on. Review your work and rewrite as needed to make it ever more clear and concise.

Basically what they're telling you is that you need a router that will hardwire into the 4200 and allow you to open the ports. You don't "HAVE" to buy it from them, in fact, I wouldn't.
