My new iMac is up and running

So many things to do, so much to learn!
I'm finding this keyboard hard to use, it is going to take some getting used to, it's great but feels so different, but I am not ready to switch to my old PC one just yet!
As for the Mighty Mouse! I'm lovin' it, especially once I learned how to get a "Right Click" to work!
I haven't setup my email yet, I haven't tried to import my favorites or address book, I've got all weekend to play with that, meanwhile my iPods need to be restored and purchases need to be reauthorized
There is one major problem I've noticed since I set this 20 inch machine up on my desk, I can now see where some of my desk laminate is missing, suddenly I don't have a Mid-Tower taking up all that space! And what is that I hear, it's so darn quiet!!

ohhh Yeah!

So much for the frustration of setting up my e-mail account, with the obligatory call to Rogers to walk me through the settings... it Seems to have done it all for me, Um... Er... WOW!
I'm already working on trying to get my address book setup, this is going so fast

Welcome markw
What a feeling to un pack these babies eh! I could not believe the excitement over a new computer compared to a PC. I am a new member as well. You landed on a great site the people here are awesome and extremely helpful. I could not believe the beauty of the imac until I got it home.
Enjoy your new machine. And let us know your progress.

Each day as I read the posts (1 year and 3 months). I wonder how much I may benefit from a new computer and all that apple has to offer. Currently I am running a Toshiba Tecra A1 which is six years old. I cannot seem to let it go. It has been a solid machine for so long and I wonder why upgrade? My dilemma is that I want to start to publish my work (or curriculum) on the internet and it just seems so damn easy on a Mac with the programs they offer, combine that with dot (.) Mac. Seemingly it would be a breeze. I am still stuck at a crossroads however. Do I bite the bullet and buy a new machine and send this one to the trash…or run this computers life out and then buy a shiny new Macbook pro. Le sigh…in my mind it is a tough call and everyone here isn’t making it any easier with such great success stories. One day…one day!

While many here would make faces at the very mention of such an old Windows machine, I hear ya. My pal Dan had one of those Toshibas and he actually WANTED it to do die ... but it wouldn't!!

With the interchangeability of common files on the PC and the Mac, I can see no reason not to get a new Mac *now* and *hold on* to your trusty Toshiba as well. It's not like you can sell it ... a six year old PC is worth less than zero!

Your documents will probably copy over to the Mac pretty easily (if you can burn a CD on that thing, or FTP/email the files over if you can't) and from there you can explore the wonderful world of web publishing and many other things (Secure banking! Watch youtube! Store mass quantities of pr0n!) that the Toshiba is just too old to manage.

Bottom line: HAVE IT ALL!
