Someone is selling a 12" iBook G3 500MHZ, 10GB, 192RAM, CD ROM and I am wondering if I should purchase it with a problem it has. He says that there is a 1" x 1" area on the LCD that is brighter then the rest of the screen, is this the LCD or possibly the video on the motherboard?

The only way to tell would be to run it from another monitor.

wow... $400?? that might be worth something to look @. Depending on what you need to seriously do, I think that might be a steal. How is the batt life?? also, run that 2nd monitor as someone mentioned. But, to do some simple surfing and maybe some word pro?? nice.

H!

I just bought it for $368.00 shipping included, we'll see how it is. Here is what I am getting and the problems.

-iBook G3 500MHZ
-10GB
-198RAM
-CD ROM
-battery that lasts about 1 hour and 45 minutes
-Adapter

Problems *nothing serious*
-the backspace key is missing but still works
-there is an area on the LCD that is a little brighter then the rest.

That's it, I think I got it for an excellent price.

What a deal!

That's awesome!! And, if the display problem is the system itself and not the LCD, it should be covered under Apple's iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program. Congrats on a great purchase!
