Question Macbook Pro HD upgrade

Hello to everyone. This is my first post but I've been to these forums from time to time looking for info on various Mac issues.

Anyway, my issues is this: I have a Macbook Pro, 2.16Ghz Core 2 Duo, with 3 GB max RAM installed. It came with a 120GB hard drive installed. I know there is a 250GB hard drive that is compatible with this model, but I noticed today that Western Digital came out with a 320GB model. My question is then: if that 320GB HD works at SATA II, is it compatible with my MBP even if the current drive installed is SATA I? Would my MBP even be able to handle that much capacity?

I've been looking for answers everywhere but haven't found anything definitive. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

i've got the 2.2 santa rosa and it's a sata drive.
on your mac:
go to the apple symbol...about this mac...more info...and then on the right hand side....scroll down and click on s-ata. your HD should show up there. if not, look for another category which would be p-ata or ata.

most mac related product selling sites should also have selection menus for you to choose your model from there.

i believe this isn't a user enable piece to replace so you'll be voiding your warrant if you do it yourself (and if you're still within applecare time) or you an have a local mac reseller do it.

cheers

I've been thinking about upgrading my mbp drive as well, I saw this:
Canada Computers - Hard Drives > Notebook Drives > 2.5" SATA Drives : Western Digital Scorpio (WD3200BEVT) 320GB SATA 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" Laptop Hard Disk (OEM).

If I can add to this thread...
209 is tempting! Can I get this and take it to a dealer and have this installed? Is there a dealer who has this for similar price I can get this happening?

lastly, is it a major difference in speed for drives with 16mb cache as opposed to 8 mb cache?
