Oh Lars and krs, you WHACKY CUT-UPS!
Actually Tuff, I think the answer depends on the software you use for music DJ-ing. Has it been updated for Leopard?
If so, then I'd say upgrade. Leopard seems faster to me, and there are lots of other "little" niceties.
I've got a Core 2 Duo 1.83 with 3 GB RAM - Leopard runs great.
My brother-in-law is looking at a MacBook for DJ-ing as well. He uses Serato Scratch now with an iMac CoreDuo. Lemme know how it runs on Leopard with your MacBook please

I have no clue what WHACKY CUT-UPS are, but since you included a it can't be all bad.
I figured if Lars can write a definite "yes" with no explanation, I can write a definite "No" just as well.
I just counted the applications I have in my application folder, 108 not counting any utilities. I'm pretty sure there are some which won't run on Leopard - I also decided to wait at least until 10.5.3 before thinking seriously of upgrading.
Plan basically is to clone my main internal hard drive to an external - do an archive and install of Leopard on the main drive - test all the applications I use on a regular basis, run with Leopard for a couple of weeks and then decide if I stay with it or go back using the clone.

Tuff: I did what krs is planning and it worked great (although I didn't do an archive, I bought a new hard drive so had a clean slate). I still have my tiger clone and I back up with Time machine on another partition. So three months after I made the switch I could go back, but I haven't had to yet. As always check your favorite programs for 10.5 compatibility.
I find that in Leopard the "eye candy" slows down the finder just a little (but I LOVE quick look so I'm fine with that) and I don't use the finder like I used to anyways. Spotlight gets me everywhere. I've found it far more stable than Tiger which translates to a smooth ride. I think with 2GB you'll find it plenty fast.
thanks guys,I will clone my drive and keep it backed up on an external, the software i am using is rane searato scratch, which is known to be pretty stable with leopard,
Im gonna give it a try and post,
