I have a dlink wireless system and want to hook up my airport express so that I can use my samsung usb printer in another room with my laptop. My samsung is on my laptop but my airport doesn't seem to recognize my wireless system. I have installed the airport onto my computer but it still blinks amber. The airport assistant can't find the printer. What else do I need to do? Thanks for any help.
Malco, Thanks for the link. I went through it earlier and did not find an answer to the problem directly. I am having difficulty getting the airport express to find the network and I don/t know enough about what the problem could be in order to ask the right questions. I read the comments about putting the router up high and I figured that if the laptop can receive the signal in a room further away, then the airport express should be able to receive it too. Can you or anyone else think of anything else I might need to do to connect the airport to the dlink system that is running fine?

I think your Airport Express cannot join your D-Link network because I believe the D-Link does not support WDS mode (wide distribution system).
Does that mean I have to get another Express to replace the dlink and then add the other Express in order to make the printer wireless in another room?
BTW I enjoyed your blog. Welcome to Canada. Hope the weather is OK out there. We are in Ontario in cottage country and the snow is really high this year! Are you on Salt Spring Island? I hear it is gorgeous out there.
AirPort Express can function as a full-fledged wireless access point, or it can join an existing network just to offer its wireless print server and audio features. When AirPort Express does that, it is in "client mode."
In client mode AirPort Express does not offer itself as a wireless access point or use its Ethernet port. As a wireless client, AirPort Express is simply a destination for AirTunes and print jobs. It can join both 802.11b and 802.11g networks, including those using security features such as WEP and WPA-PSK.
