I woke up this morning (int Toronto) to no internet service from Sympatico...again! None of the three computers at home can make a connection. Nothing changed in my setup last night, when eveything was fine. Anyone else can't connect?
And while I'm at it, I find that Bell service is really beginning to suck. I've had more disruptions to service in the past 6 months than I've had in 5 years with Sympatico. And the move to India for tech support means that when I do have a problem I have to struggle with bad phone lines and thick accents. As you all know, with Bell, the customer is always wrong. Bell, never has a problem with its service that it will admit. DNS problems last month came and went, but for two weeks, a bad connection if I used Bell's settings.
I'm on the verge, but Rogers doesn't sound that appealing. Any recommendations?
All fine here in Toronto, No disruptions or failures to connect with Bell Symbadico.
Dave

Assuming you've rebooted your Bell DSL router, and that you don't have another router connected to it. I've had Sympatico go out on me once in the two years I've been with them, but it was something on their end that they repaired.

It has been fine here in the Gulag of Eastern Ontario, where 43 crosses the Rideau.

Last week it was down for about 5 hours. I called, complained firmly and they were quite helpful. They said it was an issue at their end and soon enough it was up.
We have been customers since 2001 and have probably lost less than 12 hours service in that time.
Call and be polite, firm and insistent.
The location of the tech support should not make any difference.

Mine was all out all day yesterday. I phoned and they said that they'd be sending a tech out today to test it. Naturally nobody was sent but the system was back up and running this morning.
Either they are running some sort of rolling update or are simply replacing equipment but didn't tell anyone at tech support or in the business office. This is the second time in two months that it's happened the same way for me and the csr couldn't suggest any reason to be confident that it won't be an increasing possibility in the future.
I used to have quite a few issues using the Sympatico Unplugged Service, it would drop off once or twice a day. It would come back right away but it would drop off every so often. But due to the speed, I ended up switching over to Robbers.....
