Memory

I have a powerbook G4 with total of 512 RAM. 256 built and 256 added. I would like to add more. How much can I add, what type is best and where can I buy it Toronto or Ottawa?

Thanks,

You're going to have to tell us which exact Powerbook it is.

Titanium or Aluminum?
12", 15" or 17" screen?
What processor speed?

No such thing a s a titanium 12"

It'll be an Aluminum 12", with DDR PC2700 RAM. One memory socket and 256 Mb soldered on. You can install a 1 Gb module for 1.25 Gb total RAM.

I recommend you buy from a reputable seller who knows Apples and will guarantee compatibility, give you a lifetime warranty, and a no-cost (no shipping, no restocking charges) return or replacement if it doesn't work. As long as the seller tests it and stands behind it, then the brand name is not particularly significant.

Your first step is to check the companies who support ehMac -- Carbon Computing and MacDoc are two that are in Ontario.

And of course the modest Canadaram who provides a wonderful service when selling RAM for Mac, if you don't mind purchasing on line of course.

I bought 2 GB of RAM (Crucial) for my MacBook, for $68, shipped from DirectCanada.com. Arrived today, took 2 days to ship. Going to install tomorrow.

Lew (may I call you "Lew"?), check out CanadaRAM's online store.

I'm sure you'll get solid advice on the right RAM for you, a very good price, and speedy delivery.

My iMac is sizzling with an extra GB of RAM supplied by him.

I have no hesitation in recommending him.
