The first few days my mom had her new 17" iMac she was questioning my sanity as to why she had bought it. Now she is beginning to understand.
Yesterday she phoned and asked how to get pictures off of her new digital camera. I told her to find the USB cord and plug it in to the camera and the computer. Ok she says. Is the camera turned on; Yes. Oh, look, iPhoto is opening. Now what do I do. Do you see that button in the lower right that says, Import. Yes. Click that. OK now what. That's it mom. One click.
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!
Another successful switch.

Ripping her John Denver CD was just as fun/simple. It may have taken longer to find it than to perform most of the operation. Open door, close door, wait for CD to appear in iTunes, click Import.
She may become a menace with the Email function from iPhoto however. I'll have to keep an eye on that and get her professional help if it gets out of hand.
It's like stealing candy from a baby.
Yes, you can now listen to John Denver even when the CD is not in the drive.

i really enjoy reading this. like last week, i finish setting up the cube for my dad, the expression on his face when he saw some images on the studio lcd is the 'kodak' moment, in awe.
'how can this be so clear? i don't believe this!"
it's funny to see him studing the inkjet photo like some unknown DNA sequence.
itunes also stunned him to put a smile on his face, i am waiting to show ichat av-isight this weekend.
BTW carex i also like that john denver CD.

I think I am with Canunck1975 with respect to the John Denver issue, although I do have one song in my playlist by him.
iChatAV will be our next experiment. We had been using iVisit to video chat between her old Pentium II and my PowerMac. The video window was small and the quality appalling (sp?). Her amazement will continue when the iChat link is made.

I think the moment my parents "understood" was when after about a month they hadn't had one pop-up, no dialog boxes they didn't understand and Mail had automatically marked all the spam in ther inbox as spam.
The Mac just never got in their way whenever they tried to do anything, like their PC had.
If you install OSXvnc on your Mac and Chicken of the vnc on hers, you'll be able to remotely install, monitor, update, etc her computer. Find both at VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Obviously, it helps if she has an always on internet connection (cable or DSL).
