Changing Font on top and adding new fonts?

Hi,

I saw a desktop design where the font on top (can't think what that is called) where the Finder, File, Edit etc was a different font than the default. So how do I change that? Also how do I add a different font then what is listed.

Way back I figured this out on my old G3 and can't figure out how to do it on my intel iMac.

Thanks,

S.

What you're trying to do is change the font in the menu bar. This was fairly easy in OS 9, and it's next to impossible in OS X. You probably don't want to go there.

Gerbill,

Okay I don't feel too bad. Thought I was missing something very obvious. I did some sleuthing but couldn't find anything.

There are shareware (Silk) programs that will change the system fonts simply enough.

You can change almost every other font except for the main Arial font using a program called Tinkertool. I've done it with no ill effects to my eMac. It doesn't actually alter the system in anyway, just allows changes to hidden system preferences.

anachronism,

Thanks for the tips. I found out about Silk and have it and I love it, it's changed all the fonts for me, on the finder, my web broswer, finder window etc.

I'll have to check out Tinkertool too though.
