Chinook Center?

I've been looking forward to Apple's new store in Calgary's Chinook Center for a while now in anticipation of a spring opening, but I was shocked to see that all job positions for the location have been pulled from Apple's web site. There is nothing on monster.com as well. Does anyone know if there is trouble with this store opening? I thought the location in the mall had been identified, and if that is true and anyone can take a look to see what's happening and post it I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Defined location has not been confirmed by anybody. All speculation.

However, inside the main front door (By the giant Dinosaur under the Food Court) there are sme renovations going down, and I do believe that this is all that is happening right now in Chinook, and would also be the best place for it (Especially if it is a spring opening).

On another note, I know many people that applied to the positions when they were posted, but recieved nothing back other than 'we got your application'. All of them Mac professionals dealing with Apple for a min of 5 years.

Take from that what you will!

That sounds a bit nebulous... I wonder what's going on. Damn, I can't wait for that store. Obviously we're not getting one in Edmonton any time soon, although I heard rumblings that they were negotiating for a premium space in South Edmonton Common - that could be a complete load of crap though. Would you guys be kind enough to post here again if you hear something further? I'd be making a weekened trip immediately upon that store's opening. Besides, my wife could spend weeks on end in Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn... At least now I'd have something to do at Chinook....

According to ifoapplestore.com
Quote:
The Reitman’s clothing store is moving out of their ground-floor space by the end of next March, freeing up 3,651 square-feet for Apple. It will be the fifth Canadian store when it opens next fall, and will be the western-most store in the country.

When I dropped by Chinook a couple months ago Reitmans was prepping to close down as far as I could tell, but I haven't been by recently.

James says:

Not sure why the original poster seems to think the Apple Store will take the space of Reitmans in the Chinook Mall. It was somewhat widely know that the free space under the food court, right beside the mall entry doors was going to be Apple’s new home. Just before the Xmas season started, they repainted, frosted the glass, did everything…. but for Christmas, the mall already had an outstanding offer to “The Christmas Store” so Apple couldn’t use the spot until January.

I think you’ll find Apple takes this store location, not the Reitmans’s spot. Thus, I doubt HIGHLY that it won’t be open until fall 2007. I think it’ll be open before spring.

The Christmas store is no longer occupying the space and they had previously painted/frosted where needed. All they need to do now is move equipment in and train staff. Voila.
I guess I am not the only one to guess this space for the store.
OK, time to get bets going now haha, the Chinook Apple Store Pool hahaha.
