Hey, is there anyone that pre-purchased an AppleTV unit, and if so, what delivery dates have you been given?
I need to wait until they ship to the Apple store because I have an in-store gift card and can't transfer that amount to my online account.
It seems that when the Apple Store online posts a 3-5 business day delivery time, that the stores usually get them too.
Just curious....can't wait to get it and try it out.
Thanks

Ever since I placed my order, Apple.ca says ships by Feb 28, Delivery by March 12. When the new Airport Extreme started shipping early, I sort of hoped that it would be moved up, but no luck (yet).
At least it is better than the Microsoft Vista delay. How many times did they delay that? How late was it? I lost track after the 1st year. It didn't mater thogh because I would not buy that Micrsoft junk anyway. I am surprised though for a delay from Apple.

What are the chances that the early purchasers might get a "sorry for the wait" upgrade or something from Apple. If memory serves, didn't the 1st gen MBP buyers get a free speed bump when it finally shipped?
Anyone dare to guess what might be up for grabs or why the delay?

The delay seems perfectly timed with the Alcatel/Bell Labs mp3 lawsuit decision against Microsoft. Any possibility that Apple wants to make sure it actually has a viable mp3 agreement before shipping a product that will stream mp3s (among other things)? I wonder if this may also have an effect on the Airport Express too?
Skipping on discussing software as it can be easily changed.

As far as I understood, Airport Express distribution ("AirTunes") actually takes the original source (MP3, WAV, AAC), and re-encodes in to Apple Lossless before wireless transmission.
I had heard rumor of an initial delay due to software issues being hammered out of the product, but any new features being tacked on to the product would be interesting.
Admittedly, the product is very expensive for what it does currently.
